The most interesting news in baseball is not the way the Boston Redsox destroyed the Colorodo Rockies, it is the news out of New York . The Yankee's were making news today on this slow baseball afternoon.

1st they have offered the Managerial position to Joe Girardi. Girardi beat out bench coach Don Mattingly and first-base coach Tony Pena to replace longtime manager Joe Torre.

The contract package for the former catcher and coach for the Yankees and the National League Manager of the Year with Florida in 2006 probably will be around three years and $6 million. Well for the Yankees it looked like they finally saved some money. They offered Torre $5 million plus incentive to star blindly into space. Lets be real, managing baseball is the easiest of the big three. That is an argument for another day.

Surprisingly they did not offer the job to Donny Baseball. He was upset and said that he will not be with the team next year. Good Luck to Don, one of the Best Players who will never make the Hall of Fame.

Now back to Girardi, this guy is a hot head. He could not get along with Florida ownership. If he thinks they are bad he hasn't seen anything yet. New boss, Medium (Hank) Steinbrenner is in 1980s Big George Steinbrenner mode. Medium Stein is as crazy as his old man.

Alex Rodriguez and agent/puppetmaster Scott Boras are breaking it off with the Yankees and it appears that the Yankees do not really care. Neither Do I
